Engagements and filings — operating within the Professional Services operational architecture, with capabilities, data fields, and workflows configured for how an accounting actually manages its day-to-day operations.
An accounting practice delivers its value through technical accuracy and deadline compliance — every client engagement has a filing deadline, a billing milestone and a relationship expectation that has to be met without exception. Managing a client portfolio across tax, compliance, advisory and management accounting simultaneously requires a practice management discipline that goes beyond a shared calendar and an email inbox.
Senior accountants are managing client engagements, reviewing work produced by junior staff and chasing clients for missing source documents — all while upcoming deadlines accumulate. Engagement status is tracked in spreadsheets that are updated when someone has time. Time recording relies on staff discipline and is rarely reconciled against billing until the statement is prepared. When a filing deadline is missed, the post-mortem usually reveals that no one was specifically responsible for the follow-up.
