Projects, milestones and sites — operating within the Construction operational architecture, with capabilities, data fields, and workflows configured for how a general contractor actually manages its day-to-day operations.
A general contracting business manages a portfolio of projects simultaneously — each with its own timeline, subcontractor roster, client relationship and cost budget. The contractors who maintain profitability across a growing workload are the ones who can see every project's status and cost position without spending their weekend piecing it together from separate job folders.
The site foreman is managing daily labour allocation, materials delivery, subcontractor scheduling and client queries — while the back office is chasing progress claim approvals, responding to variation requests and processing subcontractor invoices. Cost-to-complete calculations are done in spreadsheets that are updated when someone has time, not in real time. When a project is running over budget, the owner often finds out too late to course-correct.
These are the capabilities configured for this template. Start with them, then adjust to your process — nothing invented, only what a general contractor actually uses.
Keep the team organized and shifts covered.
Hire the people you need without losing track of candidates.
Deploy from the Construction operational baseline—shared capabilities, field structures, and workflow logic—then extend it with the data models, process steps, and reporting formats specific to a general contractor operation.
